What is the difference between a plasma and LCD flat screen TV?
I am looking at buying between a widescreen 40-50-inch flat screen TV and would like to know the following differences between plasma and LCD:-cost-performance (longevity, clarity, the connections of the games)-background (shown last)-weight (will it be able to hang on the wall with heavy damage)-best brands for plasma and LCD-stores with the best deals, do you recommend you get the extended warranty, do you recommend getting the set (I think it is a scam, but I know how easy each of them to create and hang on the wall)-the better for games. I use this TV for playing and watching sports and I am looking for something that will show detail. I also want something that lasts longer since the spends a lot of money on it. Thanks in advance for any assistance.
LCD TVs use an LCD panel to create the image. It's the same LCD technology found in laptops and digital cameras. Plasma TVs use gas suspended within glass panels and stimulated by an electric field to create the image. Each technology has its advantages. Plasmas tend to have a better image than LCD TVs, while LCD TVs that promise to improve the reliability long-term freedom from screen burn-in concerns. LCD is available in sizes small as 15 inches and go up from there, while to start again from plasma, 30 inches in size. LCD tends to be more expensive than plasma TVs of the same size. If I was buying one for myself, I relied on plasma due to better picture quality – the new Panasonics are especially good. The LCD sets from Sony, Sharp and Toshiba are all very good, as is Samsung. Bargain shoppers should check the Westinghouse LCD televisions – have excellent pictures and are a great value in the selling price. An HDTV standard has been in effect in the United States years. The new specifications for digital television have many different resolutions available, not all HDTV. To be considered HDTV broadcasts must be either 720p (720 progressively scanned lines) or 1080i (1080 lines interlaced).
