Beginner professional lighting for fashion photography?
I've been taking photographs for about http://clarapalmer.deviantart.com a year and a bit. My work here -> I want to use external lighting for fashion photography. I have no experience in artificial lighting, natural. What kind of lighting set-up will I need? and price ranges? I'm using a Canon EOS 400D, but I'm looking to get a 5D. I'm looking to achieve this type of effect. http://f4ust.deviantart.com/art/The-Yacht-Club-38638026 probably know there are plenty of settings associated with this image Photoshop … Please help me!
I got a strobe light to begin with. Most of the continuous lighting kits on eBay and the like are not powerful enough to obtain ISO down and the small opening, and are very limited in the switches. Certainly not going to get anywhere near the overwhelming effect of the sun in your picture shows. There is two ways to go for learning strobe lights. The cheapest way is to check the techniques used strobe lights http://strobist.blogspot.com Strobist active wireless technology footing with umbrellas and makeshift switches to achieve many of the same effects as traditional studio lighting. This creates a flexible, portable setup for very little money, and is a great way to learn about lighting. The disadvantage is that you do not power levels would like studio lights, and there are many switches that you will not be able to use / simulate. For studio strobes, Alienbees are the best deal in place. AB800 are the cheapest entry into serious enlightenment. Alienbees come from Paul C. Buff, a company based in Nashville. They offer excellent quality and a lot of bang for the buck. With studio strobes, you will have a variety of pre-made available switches, and a large amount of energy available. This is what ultimately will have to achieve effects like picture of the sample. Another bonus of studio lights, as bees do not have modeling lights continuum that lets you see what your lighting will look like before injection. Strobist kit I use for some concerts, and studio lights to others. In any case, I recommend you start with one light. Too many crazy photogs with many lights too early, and never really learn to control the lights correctly. Add lights of one-on-a-time with a specific purpose in mind for each. You will be amazed at what can be achieved with a light! Greetings and good luck!
